Ghost Whisperer Recap: Love Still Won't Die
Though the title of this episode is remarkably similar to last week's Love Never Dies, it really doesn't have anything to do with that episode, though there are some similarities. Notably, we actually meet Kyle McCall (Michael Landes), who apparently used to date Melinda, and has been obsessed with her ever since he let her go. We find out that that happened when she told him about her gift and he didn't believe her - he simply walked away. Now he's back.
After he was killed by the car in the finale of last week's episode, he has made it across the country (or however far it may be) to see Melinda, and he sends her to Maine in search of his wife - played by Lacey Chabert - while he tries to warn Jim away from Melinda. Jim is a bit spooked that he's in competition with a ghost, but to his credit, he doesn't leave.
While all this is happening, Melinda has her hands full with Ned (Tyler Patrick Jones), a troubled boy whose mother (Camryn Manheim) works across the square. It seems that Ned is being haunted by a ghost who wants him to steal some backstage passes, and Ned is only to happy to comply - wouldn't you if you were being told to do so by a ghost?
In order to help Ned get rid of the ghost, help the ghost cross over, and get some herself some help around the store, Melinda ends up giving Ned the passes in exchange for him coming over after school and on some weekends. We'll see how that works out.
At the end of the episode, Melinda convinces her old boyfriends that she's moved on (and more importantly, that he needs to do the same). When she saw the relief in his eyes that he wouldn't have to deal with her strangeness that day, it was enough. Even if he had come back right then it wouldn't have worked, much less all these years later. Eventually the message gets through and he also talks to his ex, and he moves on. We do see a hanging body that is dripping blood in Maine, but nothing else is mentioned about it. Perhaps it will come up in a future episode.
